Author: Jeffery Wall, Artistic Director & Conductor www.jefferywall.com Admittedly, I'm not very good at networking. If you read the last blog post, you know we're taking things in a little less traditional route. This is the start of our 3rd season (I can't believe that!). It was becoming clear that we couldn't just keep doing the same thing over and over again and it be sustainable. We were going to have to get creative and do our best to make things interesting and new going forward. As the conductor and artistic director, I'm so excited for this upcoming concert and I know the singers are too. It's at Welltown Brewing, so all the music choices revolve around ale, wine, spirits, and fun. I know...cool, right? I also knew that we couldn't pull this off alone. But, again, I'm not very good at networking. I'm okay with rehearsals, leading choirs, emails, messages, etc. If I have to talk in person and "pitch" a message (where most of the relationship-building happens), I'm awkward. I know it. I own it. I'm especially uncomfortable with the initial ask. Let me tell you something. 918 businesses, owners, and entrepreneurs are awesome! They have been so generous with their time, services, goods, and donations. After this experience, I can honestly say I'm more comfortable with building those connections. It takes a village to keep an arts organization going and our village has rallied. Particularly, the 918 BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) community has stepped up with their representative businesses. You'll know from our last blog post that a BJJ seminar is how this idea first spawned. Let me introduce our sponsors for this upcoming concert. Finally, let me encourage you to buy tickets and come join us for a fun night of music and friendship. Tickets are on sale now and will be mailed to you for the discounted price of $5 off through June 14th on our website. After that time, price returns to normal and tickets will be available at will call.
